Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour

Get ready for battle, Windows Phone 8 gamers. The mega popular first person shooter Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour is finally available for Microsoft's new mobile OS.

Developer and publisher Gameloft first released the game for iOS and Android back in December, but left Windows Phone 8 out in the cold. Now, users of Redmond's mobile platform can join in the war-fighting action.

"The game puts you in the boots of an elite soldier helping his unit to avert global devastation in the wake of a nuclear disaster," according to a Wednesday post on Microsoft's Windows blog. "Gameloft pulled out all the stops on this one. Hollywood provided the sound effects and voice acting. The Havok gaming engine conjures the kind of 3-D animations and effects you're more likely to find on console games."

The game offers more than 20,000 weapon arrangements, and lets you play as a good guy or as the villain, Edward Page. There's a range of battlefields, so you'll fight everywhere from Antarctica to Barcelona. Those not satisfied to battle alone can play in multiplayer mode, and watch their character move to the top of the leaderboards.

Gameloft this week released an official launch trailer for the Windows Phone 8 version of Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, showing players what they're in store for. Check it out below.

Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour is available for download now in the Windows Phone store for Windows Phone 8 devices. It's a 1GB download and will set you back $6.99.
