The GP7200 Engine

GP7000

World Class Design

Developed by the Engine Alliance, a 50/50 joint venture between GE and Pratt & Whitney, the GP7200 delivers unprecedented performance, reliability, and customer value to Airbus A380 operators.

About The Engine Alliance

The Engine Alliance, a 50/50 joint venture between GE and Pratt & Whitney, was formed in August 1996 to develop, manufacture, sell and support a family of modern technology engines for new high-capacity, long-range aircraft.

The Airbus A380 aircraft carries the largest payload in aviation history. With a range of 8,200 nautical miles and growth plans for even longer missions, it needs engines that set new standards for in-service reliability.

Through the incorporation of state-of-the-art advanced technologies into a solid heritage of proven products, the Engine Alliance and its member companies are dedicated to providing the most technically advanced and environmentally compatible engine for the Airbus A380.

About GP7200

Designed for the Airbus A380 aircraft, the Alliance GP7200 incorporates state-of-the-art advanced technologies to a solid heritage of proven wide body products from the world's two leading aircraft engine manufacturers: GE Aviation and Pratt & Whitney.

The GP7200 family is derived from enhancements to two of the most successful wide body engine programs in aviation history - the GE90 and PW4000 families. Building on the GE90 core and the PW4000 low spool heritage, the GP7200 is a refined derivative with an infusion of new, proven technologies.

The GP7200 engine has benefitted from the ongoing technology programs at GE and P&W; and provides best-in-class performance and reliability for the Airbus A380.

The GP7200 is certified at the 70,000 lb. thrust class level and a 72,000 lb. version will be available in 2013 for higher NTOW aircraft models. A 76,500 lb. thrust class model is certified and a 81,500 lb. thrust class model could be available to accommodate any future higher capacity A380 variants.
