The Nuwara Eliya High Court today sentenced seven persons to death over an election related killing of a person in 1994, Police spokesman told Ada Derana.

Nine persons were charged over the murder which had taken place in the Nildandahinna area in Walapane while the legal case had dragged on for several years.

Nuwara Eliya High Court Judge Lalith Ekanayake delivered the verdict in the case today and issued the death sentence on 7 suspects as the other 2 suspects have already passed away.

Five of the 7 suspects are said to be brothers belonging to two families.
