The Chicago Red Stars announced today that they have signed their second round pick in the NWSL College Draft, defender Rachel Quon, and Discovery Player selection Lydia Vandenbergh for the upcoming season.

Quon has been a consistent member of the youth National team pools. She attended U-14 I.D. Camp in 2004 and 2005, played for the U-15 in 2006, U-16 in 2007 and came back from a broken collarbone and an ACL tear to make it to the U-17 Women’s World Cup squad. She played every minute of the five matches she played in the WWC. Quon was also a member of the U-20 team that won the 2010 CONACAF and played as a right back in the 2010 U-20 FIFA WWC, where she picked up two assists.

Vandenbergh was selected by the St. Louis Atheltica in the 10th round of the 2009 WPS draft while she was serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Florida State. After the Athletica released her the Red Stars signed her to their developmental team and was called up to the senior club during her 2010 campaign.

As always, even though the Chicago Red Stars announced the signing we still have to wait for confirmation from the league before Quon and Vandenbergh are officially part of the Red Stars.
