Kajol is impressed with Ajay
Ajay Devgan is the most versatile actor, says his wife Kajol, who also believes that the man is more impressive in reality than all his reel characters.
“I personally think Ajay is the most versatile actor that we have today. He has been successful in all genres — be it comedy or drama,” Kajol told the media at the music launch of their upcoming action animation movie, Toonpur Ka Superrhero.
She can’t be more right as the 41-year-old actor has proved his versatility with five releases this year which were different from each other — he was seen in two comedies Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge and Golmaal 3, political thriller Raajneeti, crime saga Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and a film on honour killing titled Aakrosh.
When asked which character of Ajay impressed her the most, Kajol said, “I’m more impressed with Ajay in real life than any of the characters he has played.” Both will be seen in Toonpur Ka Superrhero, which is produced by Krishika Lulla and Kumar Mangat Pathak. Kireet Khurana has directed the movie, which will hit the screens on December 24.
Talking about her experience of working again with Ajay after the 2008-release U, Me Aur Hum, Kajol said, “It’s great fun working with people you know. The best part is that you are comfortable with each other.”
And why did she decide to be a part of an animation film?
“I liked the idea a lot. Most importantly, the script and the screenplay were very good. All the cartoons were very interesting characters. The whole script was very tight. So I decided to do it,” she said.
All set to dazzle
Fox released the theatrical trailer of 127 Hours, its forthcoming film directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle, along with their film The Chronicles of Narnia — The Voyage of the Dawn Treader that released on December 3 in 3D.
After the stupendous success of Slumdog Millionaire, Danny Boyle’s next film, 127 Hours is all set to release in India in January 2011. 127 Hours is a thriller–drama starring James Franco. The music has been given by A R Rahman. The film is the true story of
a mountain climber Aron Ralston (played by James Franco), who battles against all odds to stay alive after a boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah.
Fox has also released the theatrical trailers of their forthcoming 3D films Gulliver’s Travels starring Jack Black and Rio, an animated film made by Carlos Saldana (the director of Ice Age 2 and 3).
An upper hand
Seventy per cent! That’s how much Aamir Khan wants his share in profits to be, for the film he is co-producing with Farhan Akhtar. Aamir has asked for a whopping share of 70 per cent in his joint production with Farhan Akhtar. The untitled film, to be directed by Reema Kagti, features Aamir with Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor. The shooting for the film starts early next year.
Says a source, “Though the mystery thriller is a joint production between the two actor-producers, Aamir definitely wants an upper hand. The star always takes home a share of the profits even when he is not the producer. In this film, as he is both, he wants his share to go up considerably.”
This new film is a suspense thriller. The perfectionist Aamir, who hardly repeats his role, will be playing a cop in this film. However, he will not be playing cop wearing a regular uniform. He will play an undercover CID cop in plain clothes.
Saregama HMV, that holds the copyright to the song Dum Maro Dum from the 1971 classic Hare Rama Hare Krishna, starring Dev Anand, Mumtaz and Zeenat Aman, has
sold the rights to the Sippys without informing the veteran actor Dev Anand.
Says a spokeperson from Saregama, “We sold the copyright of Dum Maro Dum to the Sippys, and we did not see the need to inform Dev Anand.
He might have an emotional connect to the song but he has absolutely no legal rights over it.”
Dum Maro Dum was sung by Asha Bhosle. The song, picturised on Zeenat Aman, was written by Anand Bakshi and composed by R D Burman.
It gained cult status in the years to come and has been remixed many times.
Playing a perfect host
Shah Rukh Khan is a great fan of different kinds of sports! When he was approached to host a sports awards event, The Sahara India Sports Awards 2010 (SISA), he certainly couldn’t resist the offer.
SRK postponed a shoot and flew down all the way from Berlin on the day of the event and finished all his dance rehearsals at an unbelievable speed.
He kept the audience laughing throughout with his witty one-liners in his trademark SRK-style. He even managed to get the most reticent sportstars like Sachin Tendulkar, Virendra Sehwag shake a leg with him on stage. While SISA promised to be the amalgamation of two of India’s biggest entertainers — sports and Bollywood, there couldn’t have been a better choice for the host than SRK!
