Enterprise Statistics - Main

The Census Bureau will resume publication of Enterprise Statistics reports with the 2012 Economic Census.

Data from the Business Register, administrative records, and survey responses will be combined to produce the 2012 reports. Enterprise Statistics reports will be published in February 2016 following publication of economic census industry reports.

A summary of the research completed through May 2012, "Restoring the Enterprise Statistics Program (ESP) for the 2012 Economic Census" [pdf, 628K], is available.


2011 Prototype Tables

2007 Prototype Tables

In developing methodology for use with the 2012 Enterprise Statistics reports, the Census Bureau prepared several prototype tables using the 2007 Business Register and administrative records (see below). The Census Bureau also developed the Enterprise Classification System, an industry classification system for use with enterprises (in contrast to the North American Industry Classification System [NAICS], a system for classifying establishments).
