Arriving in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon)

Before going to sleep, I was pretty hungry, so I head out to see what kind of food there was in the area. There wasn’t much in the immediate area, so I walked toward the center of town. There were a couple of slutty-dressed women in front of a shady looking bar that yelled out to me, and a guy who put his arm around my shoulder and kept pointing across the street to something, and some sidewalks were completely ripped up forcing me to walk on the sidewalk, but other than that, nothing too out of the ordinary.

I ended up in the center of town which was pretty nice, with lit up fountains and fashionable people. There weren’t any stores to buy food though, so I ended up getting a couple of burger combos at the Lotteria and bringing those back to the hotel. I ended up getting disoriented on the way back, so I saw some more of Ho Chi Minh before making my way back.

Overall it seemed fairly safe at night at least in the center of town, as there are a lot of security guards on the streets. On the face of it, Ho Chi Minh seems similar to Hanoi, except with better air (either that or I’ve gotten used to the pollution) and worse traffic.

Since my nighttime photos didn’t turn out too well, here is a nice photo I found through Google Image search:
