Though legal profession, in India, has seen quite a few luminaries, from Mahatma Gandhi to Bal Gangadhar Tilak, it did not enjoy the respect, which it deserved, for quite some time. Probably, the portrayal of lawyers in Indian movies was responsible for this, to some extent. Today the scenario has changed. With the establishment of the national law schools in India, we have witnessed a change in the perception towards law as a career. This change has also resulted from the high paying jobs that these graduates have been able to get in the last decade and from the increased demand for law graduates in the corporate sector. So, who makes a good lawyer? A lawyer must have good communication, both written and oral. He/she must be able to draft legal documents. Further, a lawyer must be well aware of current happenings, should be smart and presentable and should be able to present ideas in a logical manner.
