In 2005, my investigative article of the New Years Eve in-flight fire and crash landing that claimed the life of actor and rock music icon Rick Nelson was published. The two month assignment included interviews with Guntersville, Alabama airport officials and assistance by the National Transportation Safety Board.
Responsible for investigating "breaking news", regional stories and traffic reporting for this Top 3-rated station. Coordinated information with newsroom producers, reporters, city, state and federal public information officials throughout Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Participated in morning and afternoon daily pre-flight briefings with chief pilot and meteorologists at Cincinnati Municipal Lunken Airport. Fated to be the last Helicopter News and Traffic Reporter since WLWT began flight operations in 1958, due to the station's decision to reduce costs associated with aviation crew, resources and fuel expenses.
Provided on-camera coaching to improve professional presentation performance and communication training for this global company. Clients included C-Level executives from Fortune 500 to mid and small size companies. Partnered with clients to provide the highest level of excellence in preparing and executing presentations on-camera and at keynote speaking events.
Anchored the 12 PM-9 PM newscasts on the half-hour. Investigated, produced and delivered international, national and regional news in Dallas/Ft. Worth market. Reported on several breaking news stories including the Columbine High School Shootings, Bush-Gore Election, 9/11 Terrorist Attacks, the Crisis in Iraq, and the Space Shuttle Columbia Disaster. Reported a series on the legal challenges to remove the Wright Amendment at Dallas Love Field Airport and the Enron Scandal. Filled in for vacationing news personalities on morning and afternoon shifts.
