An announced 20,176 at Red Bull Arena on Friday night to watch the home team achieve a 2-2 result to Toronto FC, showing perhaps a slight World Cup bump for New York City's local MLS team. But the crowd was still disappointing with all things considered.

Dax McCarty recovering from knee surgery

Dax McCarty on his knee: “It was pretty damaged. I was hoping for this game but the trainers let me know a couple weeks after the fact that this game – yea, it wasn’t going to happen.” Injured on May 27 in the Red Bulls' 1-1 road result at Sporting Kansas City, midfielder Dax McCarty was supposed to be back in time for this Friday’s home match. Instead, McCarty will have to sit-out the game against Toronto FC and look ahead to July for his return.
