HARRISON, N.J. – A slow start coupled with a horrid opening 30 minutes to the second half doomed the Red Bulls to a less than stellar 2-2 home result at Red Bull Arena. It wasn't what the well-rested Red Bulls were hoping for after an extended break from league play.

HARRISON, NJ---In their return to Major League Soccer play following a World Cup break, the New York Red Bulls found a late equalizer late to draw Toronto 2-2 in front of 20,176 at Red Bull Arena Friday night.

An announced 20,176 at Red Bull Arena on Friday night to watch the home team achieve a 2-2 result to Toronto FC, showing perhaps a slight World Cup bump for New York City's local MLS team. But the crowd was still disappointing with all things considered.

Dax McCarty on his knee: “It was pretty damaged. I was hoping for this game but the trainers let me know a couple weeks after the fact that this game – yea, it wasn’t going to happen.”

Injured on May 27 in the Red Bulls' 1-1 road result at Sporting Kansas City, midfielder Dax McCarty was supposed to be back in time for this Friday’s home match. Instead, McCarty will have to sit-out the game against Toronto FC and look ahead to July for his return.
