PREVIEW: Winning league and relegated in same season?

FOOTBALL – It sounds impossible, yet in Panama it might just happen. Río Abajo are the side that can make history and become the first team in the history of domestic football worldwide to win a league title and be relegated in the same season. How? Río Abajo can scoop up the Clausura title if they beat Chorrillo in their playoff final on Friday, 16 May. Relegation in Panama is decided by a composite table of Apertura and Clausura regular standings and Río Abajo finished dead last in the Apertura. They backed into the Clausura playoffs by finishing in fourth place, but their points total in the Clausura was not enough to carry them out of last place in the composite table (‘Tabla Anual’). Will we see a first?

RECORD: O’Driscoll to improve Test appearances world record

RUGBY UNION – On Saturday, 8 March, Brian O’Driscoll can improve the world record for most career Test appearances, surpassing the 139 by Australia’s George Gregan. O’Driscoll has represented Ireland 131 times and the British and Irish Lions on eight occasions. O’Driscoll made his international debut on 12 June 1999 in a 46-10 defeat against Australia.
