Our business
DMP is a research and development fabless semiconductor vendor mainly engaged in licensing of hardware IP (logical data design, etc.) and software IP (primarily drivers that control hardware and tools that support content production) that uses 2D and 3D graphics technologies we developed, and in the development and distribution of graphics LSIs equipped with these IPs. Our main focus is on the field of visual computing* for embedded devices.
*1Visual computing: Graphics technology and high-performance processor technology for image processing that enable interactive and rich visual displays. In combination with displays and input devices for a wide variety of electronic equipment, these technologies make possible cutting-edge user friendly interfaces and next-generation video games, as well as 3D graphics image processing for broadcast video production and devices for the medical and aerospace industries
IP Licensing Business
DMP‘s IP licensing business includes licensing and maintenance of: 3D graphics hardware IP for equipping hardware with DMP’s original extension function based on OpenGL ES, the industry standard 3D graphics specification; vector graphics hardware IP for equipping hardware with DMP’s original extension function based on OpenVG, which is the industry standard vector graphics specification; driver software to control these hardware IPs; emulator environments; and content production support software and other software IPs.
Moreover, in response to customer requests, DMP customizes the IP product that it provides. The following products are available for customization:
- Modification of hardware IP and addition of circuits to adjust it to memory and bus arrangements indicated by the customer
- Transplantation of software IP to adjust it to individual platforms such as CPUs and OSs indicated by the customer
- Change, deletion or addition of functions to hardware IP and software IP
Product Business (Development and Distribution of Graphics LSI)
While DMP licenses its IP products, at the same time we target a limited number of fields with semiconductors based on our IP which we develop and distribute. The first product distributed to an OEM was the 3D/2D high-performance graphics LSI equipped with the graphics IP PICA®200, specially designed for the amusement industry.

In response to requests from customers and partners, DMP undertakes contracted development for hardware and software relating to the IP products that we provide.

Technical Training
DMP is the only company in Japan to receive accreditation from the Khronos Group*. As well as holding practical programming courses for application developers, we also sell the Android 3D Graphics Learning Kit, which are self-study eLearning materials that enable developers to learn about 3D graphics programming using OpenGL ES on Android(TM) platforms.
