Meet Our Clinic Supervisors

Boucher Institute employs a diverse clinical faculty that encompasses a wide range of experience, practice styles and interests. All clinical faculty members have experience in practicing and working in their own clinics as well. In addition, Clinical faculty members are required to continuously upgrade their skills and knowledge through participation in continuing education and professional development.

Dr. Jordan Atkinson, ND

Dr. Jordan Atkinson, ND

Dr. Jordan Atkinson supervises third and fourth year student interns in the Boucher Naturopathic Medical Clinic. Dr. Atkinson graduated from BC's own Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Sciences majoring in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University, giving him a firm foundation in physiology and human kinetics. He empowers people to take an active role in their health and believes in being proactive, not reactive. Dr. Atkinson has a focus on the following conditions: gastrointestinal issues, arthritis, female hormone imbalance, cancer, musculoskeletal pain, fibromyalgia, obesity and psoriasis/eczema. Dr. Atkinson has a private practice in West Vancouver.

Dr. Dana Barton, ND

Dr. Barton supervises third and fourth year student interns in the Boucher Naturopathic Medical Clinic. Dr. Barton obtained his naturopathic medicine degree from Bastyr University in 1996. Since that time, he has practiced in Vancouver and more recently on Bowen Island. Dr. Barton works extensively with mind/body medicine and specializes in the following conditions; arthritis, attention deficit disorder/hyperactivity, cancer, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic fatigue, colitis/Crohn's disease/IBS, fibromyalgia, gynaecological care, menopausal disorders, obesity and psoriasis/eczema.

Dr. Mirjana Baspaly proudly graduated from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster and is currently supervising third and fourth student interns in the Boucher Naturopathic Medical Clinic.  Dr. Baspaly strongly believes in the innate healing power of the body and emphasizes this in her patient care. Her focus is on getting to the underlying cause of symptoms and treating the person as a whole.   Dr. Baspaly has a focus on the following areas: women health, pediatric health, fertility and hormonal health.  She has extensive expertise treating digestive disorders, food and environmental allergies.  She is certified in acupuncture, Bowen massage technique and IV therapies.  Dr Baspaly has a private practice in Port Moody.

Dr. Sarah Beasleigh, BSc Phm, ND

In addition to her role as Dean of Clinical Studies, Dr. Beasleigh supervises third and fourth year student interns in the Boucher Naturopathic Medical Clinic. Dr. Beasleigh attained her pharmacy degree from the University of Toronto in 1989 and graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in 2000. Dr. Beasleigh has additional certification in acupuncture and in craniosacral therapy. She has a private practise in Coquitlam with a focus on counselling, nutrition, botanical medicine and women’s health.

Dr. Sacha Elliott, ND

Dr. Sacha Elliott is a naturopathic physician with a focus on motivating, educating and empowering her patients to create balance in all aspects of their health.  She treats a variety of health conditions and has a special interest in women’s health and fertility, hormone imbalance, gastrointestinal disorders, skin disease, weight management, detoxification, mental/emotional imbalance, and stress management.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of British Columbia and has completed a four year doctorate program at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster, BC.  She enjoys working at her family practice in North Vancouver, a hop, skip, and a jump away from where she grew up.

Dr. Fairman-Young is a full-time faculty member of the Boucher Institute. She manages the Boucher Naturopathic Medical Clinic, the teaching clinic of the Boucher Institute. An important part of her responsibilities is supervision of third and fourth year student interns. She obtained her bachelor of physical education from University of Calgary in 1993 and spent the next 12 years as a sports massage therapist. After graduating from CCNM in 2004 she practiced in Ontario, Alberta, and is currently practicing in Vancouver. Dr. Fairman-Young has additional certification in acupuncture and IV therapy.

Dr. Tom Grodski, ND

Dr. Tom Grodski, ND

Dr. Grodski is licensed naturopathic doctor, acupuncturist, osteopathic & bowen therapist, who specializes in integrative naturopathic family medicine. He is a member of both the Association of Perinatal Naturopathic Doctors and the Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and teaches at the Boucher Institute. After completing a degree in astrophysics at the University of Toronto he went on to complete medical school at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, and enter the psychotherapist training program at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto. He then pursued his passion for homeopathy by studying with many of the top homeopathic doctors in the world, both in Canada and abroad in India. He has complete family medicine prescribing privileges, is board certified for intravenous and Chelation therapy (International Society of Chelation Technicians), acupuncture / Chinese Medicine, and allergy testing.

Arvin Jenab is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor and health educator. He has been in private practice since May 2000.  Dr. Jenab is Associate Dean of Clinical Studies at the Boucher Institute.  In addition to contributing to the ongoing training of naturopathic students and interns, he oversees the operation of several community-based naturopathic teaching clinics and maintains a private practice in downtown Vancouver.

Dr. Jenab's interest in Naturopathic Medicine was inspired through his discovery of Eastern medicine and philosophy, and a deep desire and a passion for understanding the human body and the mind.  He completed his undergraduate studies at McGill University focusing on the medical sciences and human psychology and completed his naturopathic medicine training at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto.

Dr. Jenab is an active and respected member of the naturopathic profession.  He is a member of his professional associations and licensed to practice in BC.  In his personal life he enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, painting, and cooking!

Dr. Danny Jui supervises third and fourth year student interns in the BINM teaching clinic. Dr. Jui is a licensed naturopathic physician with additional board certifications in acupuncture and prescription authority.  He completed a science degree in Physiology and Psychology from McGill University in 2000 and received his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2004. He is also the first Canadian naturopathic physician to complete the residency in Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine at Griffin Hospital, a teaching facility affiliated with Yale University. In addition to clinical teaching, Dr. Jui maintains a private practice and is the co-founder of Ray Clinic in Port Moody.

Dr. Komonski supervises third and fourth year student interns in the Boucher Naturopathic Medical Clinic. After completing a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia in psychoneuroimmunology (the interplay between the mind/brain, the immune system and hormones), Dr. Komonski received her medical training at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. She has additional training in acupuncture, botanical medicine, and is a certified Wilson’s Temperature Syndrome practitioner. Dr. Komonski has also spent time as a personal trainer, which deepened her knowledge of exercise therapy, injury prevention, and sports medicine. It also highlighted the importance of motivating an individual to achieve their own success – something she emphasizes in practice at her clinic in East Vancouver. Dr. Komonski’s special interests include anxiety and depression, LGBTQ health, women’s health, digestive and immune conditions, sports medicine, and vegetarian/vegan nutrition.

Dr. Sanjay Mohan Ram, ND

Dr. Mohan Ram earned his BSc (Hon.) in Physiology from the University of British Columbia in 1997. He continued his education at the Boucher Institute and obtained his Naturopathic diploma, graduating with the pioneer class in 2004. Dr. Mohan Ram is active in Naturopathic medical education, as an adjunct professor at the Boucher Institute for Physiology, Biochemistry and Pathology classes, and as a senior instructor at Utopia Academy of Massage Therapy. He also contributes to the profession as the Chair of the Examination Committee for the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia, as well as a Committee member for the Patient Relations Committee. Dr. Mohan Ram is certified in Acupuncture, Chelation and Intravenous therapies, Neural therapy and Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.

Dr. Moyer studied Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario, before graduating from The Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.  There she found a great passion for the profession, which she immerses herself into with her practice, supervising at the student naturopathic clinic in New Westminster, as well as countless seminars and conventions on naturopathic medicine and health in general.  Dr. Moyer has a private practice in the heart of Vancouver at Broadway Wellness.  In her practice, she focuses on the importance of a healthy foundation of nutrition, movement, and mental/emotional balance.  Dr. Moyer treats a wide range of conditions, with a focus on digestive complaints, women's health, weight loss, depression, anxiety, and musculoskeletal problems.  Dr. Moyer has further certification in Bowen Therapy from the Bowen College.

Dr. Karen Nguyen supervises third and fourth year student interns at the Boucher Naturopathic Medical Clinic. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Simon Fraser University and continued her Naturopathic studies at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.  Dr. Nguyen maintains a general family practice both in Vancouver and Burnaby and has further certification in acupuncture, cold laser therapy, and pharmaceutical prescribing authority. She has special interest in women’s health, allergies, and digestive imbalances.

Dr. Ibby Omole, ND, L.Ac

Dr. Ibby Omole B.Sc, MES, ND, L.Ac

Dr. Ibby Omole is a naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist. She is a Bastyr University graduate and completed part of her acupuncture degree in Shanghai China. She also holds a Masters degree in Environmental Studies from York University. She has a special interest and extensive training in urological conditions and pain management. Using a combination of herbal medicine, nutrition, mind body medicine and supplementation, she guides patients in being an agent of change in their own health.  She has additional interest in environmental medicine, maternal health and pediatrics.  In her private practice, she treats a wide range of people from pediatrics to geriatrics.

Dr. Bobby Parmar, ND

Dr. Parmar obtained his bachelor of applied science at Simon Fraser University and then went on to Toronto where he graduated at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Presently, Dr. Parmar is practicing in Vancouver, as well as supervising third and fourth year clinic interns at the Boucher Naturopathic Medical Clinic. Dr. Parmar is also a naturopathic physician at the Friends for Life Society- a complementary care facility for people suffering with life-threatening illnesses. He has a special interest in hormones and has additional certification in treating subclinical hypothyroidism (Wilson's Temperature Syndrome).

Dr. Leila Sahabi, ND

Dr. Sahabi is a licensed naturopathic physician and supervisor in the Boucher Naturopathic Medical Clinic.  Her passion for science and human behavior led her to study both Science and Psychology at UBC with a particular interest in Social and Personality Psychology. After receiving her Bachelor of Science and Psychology, she went on to pursue naturopathic medicine at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine where she developed a particular interest in acupuncture, homeopathy, injection therapies and nutritional counseling.Dr. Sahabi is currently holding two active practices in Richmond and downtown Vancouver, British Columbia.  She welcomes all types of patients with special focuses on female hormonal imbalances, gastrointestinal conditions, allergies, and pain management. She is certified in acupuncture, intravenous therapies, Bowen therapy and Biopuncture Injection therapy.

Dr. Santimaw earned his BSc(Hon) in Health Sciences/Kinesiology from UWO, which has helped him to develop a firm understanding of the human body and all of its intricacies. Dr. Santimaw went on to graduate from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine where he acquired a great appreciation for the delicate balance between all aspects of the human body, mind, and soul.
Dr. Rick Santimaw supervises the third and fourth year student interns in the Boucher Naturopathic Medical Clinic and teaches their naturopathic manipulation course. Dr. Santimaw treats a wide range of conditions at his clinic in Kitsilano and he strongly believes that a healthy lifestyle is easily attainable and works closely with all of his patients to help them achieve this goal.

Dr. Kristin Schnurr, ND

Dr. Kristin Schnurr, BSc, ND

Dr. Schnurr is the director of clinical education and a clinic supervisor at the Family Naturopathic Clinic in Victoria, a non-profit naturopathic teaching clinic serving young families. Dr. Schnurr graduated from Queens University where she earned a bachelor of science in life sciences with a special focus on endocrinology. During her undergraduate years she studied traditional healing in Kenya and held a volunteer position at Delek Hospital in northern India, where Ayurvedic doctors work alongside allopathic doctors in a respectful and integrative environment. These experiences inspired her to pursue an education in medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, where she graduated as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine in 2005. In addition to her work with the FMC, she has a general family practice with a focus on Endocrinology.

Dr. Alana Shaw, ND

Balancing a successful varsity basketball career while studying for her bachelor of science degree at McMaster University gave Dr. Shaw first hand experience of the impact stress can have on health. This understanding eventually led her to four years of studies at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. She went on to complete her clinical training in mind/body medicine through Harvard Medical School in Boston. In her latest endeavor Dr. Shaw has begun her masters degree at the University of British Columbia, where she is conducting research at the B.C. Women's Hospital in the field of reproductive endocrinology, infertility and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

Dr. Bob Van Horlick, ND

Dr. Van Horlick supervises third and fourth year student interns in the Boucher Naturopathic Medical Clinic. Upon receiving his Naturopathic Doctor designation, Dr. Van Horlick completed board exams and began a private practice in Prince George in 1989, the first licensed ND to practice north of Quesnel. Dr. VanHorlick specializes in cancer prevention, women's health, chronic degenerative diseases and allergies. He is also board certified in bio-oxidative therapies such as IV ozone and chelation.

In 1991 he was appointed by the BC government to the provincial examination board and still serves in that capacity. He has been a board member of the BC Naturopathic Association and a director and Chair of the Canadian Naturopathic Association. Dr. Van Horlick also served on the board of directors for the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto.

Team Care Approach to Treatment

Working under the supervision of licensed naturopathic physicians, our clinic interns offer a wide array of treatments, including clinical nutrition, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, wellness counselling, physical medicine and botanical medicine. After a thorough assessment, naturopathic treatments are selected using a holistic approach based on the needs of each patient.


Affordable Primary Health-Care

As a teaching clinic, we offer affordable rates for the whole family.  We also offer discounted rates to patients on income assistance. Naturopathic health-care is covered by many extended medical plans. Please check with your plan to determine your coverage.

We regret that we are unable to accept patients with active ICBC or WCB claims at this time.

Where are you located?

Will my visits be covered by my extended health care plan?

Naturopathic medical treatment is covered by many extended medical plans - you will be provided with a receipt that can be submitted for reimbursement. Please check with your plan provider to determine your coverage.
