Promoted to Director Of Modern Art Museum

The election of Rene d'Harnoncourt as director of the Museum of Modern Art, 11 West Fifty-third Street, was announced yesterday by John Hay Whitney, chairman of the institution's board of trustees. Mr. d'Harnoncourt joined the museum in 1944 and since 1947 has held a post analagous to that of director, having been both chairman of the museum's Coordination Committee and director of its Curatorial Departments.
