Fleas-(and Gas)-Be-Gone Dog Cookies
Fleas and ticks do not like the taste and smell of garlic and brewer's yeast. However, some dogs tend to become gassy after eating garlic and yeast, so I have added the herbs fennel and thyme to "counteract" the gassy effect. It also makes the biscuits more tasty.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup wheat flour
- 1/4 cup brewer's yeast
- 1/4 cup grated cashew nuts
- 1/2 cup water or low-sodium chicken broth
- 1/8 cup olive oil
- 1 chopped garlic glove
- 1 tablespoon mixed dried herbs (e.g. fennel, thyme, oregano)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F or 200°C.
- In a big bowl, combine all the dry ingredients.
- Add oil and water/broth. Mix well.
- Knead and roll out the dough on a flat surface.
- Cut with a cookie cutter.
- Bake in oven for 30-35 minutes.
- Leave biscuits in oven until they are dry for extra crunchiness.
