Manchester City Women have completed the signing of New Zealand striker Emma Kete.

The forward follows in the footsteps of recent recruit Kathleen Radtke in the move to Manchester, transferring from American side Western New York Flash.

The 26-year-old City fan who has now received her official international clearance is no stranger to moving abroad and is eager to embark on a new chapter in her life. She has also plied her trade in her homeland, Canada, Finland, Australia and England.

"It feels great to be here", she smiled. "Manchester City has always been a well-recognised football club worldwide. A lot of my favourite players have passed through the club and some are still there.

"As a player, you want to be in the most professional, well-run environment in order to be the best you can be and from what I've heard, the club is striving to provide the women’s team with exactly that so that's one of the main attractions for me.

"I hope to come in and connect with the team as quickly as possible and contribute as much as I can to winning games. I want to make an impact and play some good, enjoyable football.”

Kete began her career at Three Kings United before joining Ottawa Fury Women in 2009 and FA WSL club Lincoln Ladies in 2011.

After an injury hampered her first season at the Imps, Finnish side PK-35 Vantaa secured her services and the forward became a key member of the side that went on to lift the league title and Finnish Women's Cup - her first trophies.

She would go on to collect more domestic silverware in the Australian W-League with Canberra United and Sydney FC, before her life took another turn in 2013 when she moved to German side SC 07 Bad Neuenahr.

Earlier this year, she signed for the Western New York Flash.

Born in Auckland, Kete has represented her country at international level for the Under-20s and senior squad.

In 2008, she fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming an Olympian, competing in the Beijing Games.

Speaking on his latest signing, manager Cushing stated: "We are delighted to add Emma to our squad. Her previous international experience and past playing history only adds to the mindset and mentality to our team.

"Her ability adds to our creativity and her enthusiasm makes her a positive addition.

"We look forward to her joining up with the team as soon as possible."
