Set against the backdrop of Ahmedabad’s Manek Chowk, river front, busy streets, packed with chai, snacks and gossip at kitlis – director Abhishek Jain’s next directorial venture ‘Bey Yaar’, an epitome of ‘paakki bhaibandi’ (strength of friendship), is all set to wrap up its shoot in five days. The first schedule of the film was shot in a span of 30 days. The shooting would go on non-stop for 18 hours and, according to Jain, locations were changed thrice in a day at times to finish shooting. Jain says he had to do his bit of homework before he started working with the actors. “For ‘Kevi Rite Jaish’, I had done the scripting and hence, it was a lot easier to shoot since I had the scenes and dialogues in my mind. But with ‘Bey Yaar’, it was a lot more challenging and difficult as the scripting has been done by Bhavesh Mandalia and Niren Bhatt. When you are not the writer of your own film, things become a lot more challenging,” explained Jain, who is currently working on the next shoot schedule.According to Jain it is important to justify each one’s role and extract as much as you can as a director. All the actors, he says, are highly talented. Hence as a director, he had to do his homework thoroughly before rolling the camera. Elaborating on the set of challenges he faced while shooting the film, Jain said, “This film is beyond my comfort zone. I am used to simple story telling. However, this film has a lot of technicalities in its story-telling that I have to consider each time I say ‘action, rolling, take’. It is not the story but the method that I found complicated. From Sooraj Barjatya zone, I straightaway jumped into the Bejoy Nambiar zone.” For their first shoot schedule, the 70-member crew visited over 50 locations in Ahmedabad. In fact, Jain is grateful for the public support the unit received. “During my first film, people did not even know what I was shooting. But this time, people from the streets would approach me and ask if I was shooting for ‘Bey Yaar’. Their expectations from me this time are high and I hope I can do justice to it,” he said. The cast of the film includes Divyang Thakkar, Pratik Gandhi, Darshan Jariwala, Aarti Patel, Manoj Joshi, Amit Mistry, Kavin Dave and Samvedna Suwalka. Music has been provided by music director duo Sachin-Jigar.Working with...Darshan JariwalaHe is a sorted actor who knows his script very well. His presence in this film is like a boon for me as it is always encouraging and great to have a senior and a mentor around when you are new in the industry.Manoj JoshiI was quite conscious while work with him, noting his huge filmography and tele-serial list. I would be scared while askin him to be present the next day at 9 am at the location. But Manojji would be there at 8.45 am. Pratik GandhiHe is a newcomer in the Gujarati film industry but has a rich background of 12 years in theatre. Although, he was a bit nervous when we started, Divyang and I bonded with him quite well and this friendship and bond reflected on screen. He had just the right nerve for every scene he did and it was a quick wrap.Kavin DaveHe has done a lot of advertisements and I am glad he is part of this film. It was almost like having a younger brother with you who would bail you out of situations when you are stuck. He is just perfect. —Abhishek JainAbhishek Jain’s second directorial venture, which is based on friendship and Amdavad’s kitli and khani-peeni culture, is all set to hit the editing table |
