British F3 race winner Rob Austin will spearhead an assault on the British GT championship with the all-new Ginetta G50 GT4 car.
Austin, who contested the British F3 championship during the course of four memorable seasons from 2001 - 2004 (right), will run the car under the Rob Austin Racing banner in a planned campaign for his team which also includes the G20 and G50 championships.
"I've watched drivers who I've to beaten on the track go on to great things, but now I'm going for a driver/manager approach to my motorsport," says 27 year-old Austin. "I'm confident I can take the fight to any competitor on track and anyone joining my team will be given the best opportunity to do the same."
On track, Austin has beaten drivers of the likes of current FIA Formula One World Champion Kimi Raikkonen, ING Renault Formula One driver Nelson Piquet and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Heikki Kovalainen to name but three.
After contesting the British F3 Championship, he was unable to secure funding to take him to the next level of motorsport, Austin alighted upon the Ginetta G20 championship where he successfully contested a number of events before turning team owner.
"I'm very serious about my plans for the team and we have made significant developments to take us to the front of the grid at every level of our racing," says Austin. "We have our own workshop and a dedicated team of professionals striving for excellence in everything we do."
Rob Austin Racing is currently looking for a driver to partner Rob for the eight round season, which starts at the end of March at Oulton Park, and takes in memorable circuits such as Thruxton, Brands Hatch and Silverstone before ending the season in October at Donington Park.
"We are talking to a number of drivers for the seat in GT4, and we also have seats to fill in two Ginetta G50s which will contest the G50 championship. We're contesting the G20 championship too, and we've a couple of G20 seats left there for anyone who wants to join probably the most exciting team out there," says the Evesham resident, left. "It's certainly going to be a busy season.
Austin's preparations begin by testing the Ginetta G50 at Mallory Park on February 14th.
