ArtHeart For Rwanda Bands: The Bows And Ties & Keith Welsh

Since ArtHeart’s inception in 2009, we’ve been extremely lucky to work with some amazing South Florida musicians like Alexander, John Ralston, What Glorious Things, and Nakota (to name a few). This time around for the ArtHeart For Rwanda event, we continue the trend of good music with Bows & Ties, Keith Welsh, Boxwood, and Corey Bost. We’ll start with the first two acts:

The Bows & Ties (Miami)

This Wynwood-based female folk duo plays a brand of twang that channels a poppier Lake Worth sound, The Moldy Peaches (think Juno), and 2-person versions of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes and The Lumineers. In their most recent barrage of shows in Ft Lauderdale, they’ve performed at the most recent Indie Craft Bazaar and Flagler Community Garden. For the time being, their quirky renditions of indie hits and Mexican melodies seemingly only lives on YouTube. Here’s an original and a cover for your enjoyment:

Keith Welsh (Fort Lauderdale)

If you don’t know Keith’s music, there’s a good chance you’d recognize his signature series of woodsy characters known as Oleander & Mint. His art has made appearances in places like West Palm’s cozy coffee shop Harolds, craft events, and art shows (yes, including ArtHeart events).

Musically, Keith is a solo acoustic act on local label Wayward Parade‘s roster that plays heartfelt original songs. Listen for yourself.
