India Blooms News Service

Dhaka, Dec 23 (IBNS) India Women’s team emerged winner of the inaugural SAFF Women’s Championship 2010 edging past Nepal by a solitary goal in the finals played at the Cox’s Bazar Stadium, Bangladesh on Thursday.

In an exciting and evenly poised encounter, where both the teams failed to break the deadlock in the first half, India struck the winner through in-form midfielder Sasmita Mallick in the 65th minute.

The goal in the end proved to be the decisive one as India deservedly won the SAFF Women’s Championship.

There was more joy for India Women’s team as striker Bala Devi was adjudged Best Player of the Tournament.
