            Our Amazing Place



Our Amazing Place is a vibrant platform for locating and highlighting the assets within a local neighbourhood and providing an opportunities for connections  and community development.



To develop and refine the community treasure hunt process by developing a toolbox, resources and a web platform to help share the learning along with support and mentoring where needed. We are also the evaluative hub collecting and sharing the stories and learnings from communities as the great idea continues to seed and spread New Zealand Wide




We have an amazing learning community building around the Our Amazing Place concept of mapping community assets and highlighting them to the greater community. Currently in the community development arena there is a huge upsurge in the interest around asset based community development. Our Amazing Place is a pioneering approach to asset mapping and the mobilisation process and we have accumulated significant learnings around the topic. Our learning communities to date include:


​Pt Chev, McLaren Park/Henderson South, Massey (three) , Unsworth Heights (twice) , South Kaipara, Glen Eden, Glenfield, Albany, Lyttleton, Glendene,Glen Eden, Ranui, Te Atatu, Albany and Avondale have all had successful events. Initial steps are also underway in Kelston, Ranui, Titirangi, Te Atatu, MPHS, Tamaki, Riverside, Bayswater, Mt Roskill and Central suburbs. Further afield Whanganui, Kawerau, Thames, Tokoroa, Wellington, Cape Town in South Africa! We have also heard of treasure hunts inspired by our model reported by Inspiring Communities in Devonport, Auckland and Hamilton to name a few. The development of the web based platform for the project has been a significant milestone in our ability to share and collect the stories, learnings and resources.
