His main research is on spatial semantics, semiotics and epistemology of spatial concepts in cultures with a non-written tradition. He works on the interface between cognitive linguistics, cognitive anthropology, and philosophy of language.
Fiorenza Toccafondi is associate professor of History of Contemporary Philosophy at the University of Parma (Italy). She graduated in Philosophy at Florence in 1987 where she then undertook a PhD, which she completed in 1993. Subsequently she was awarded a post-doctorate bursary for Milan’s State University and then spent two more years in research at the Philosophy Department of Florence University. Her area of study has been neokantismus, phenomenology, and the work of Karl Bühler. Subsequently she went on to investigate ontological questions and the philosophical and cultural background in which Gestaltpsychologie arose. Since 2002 she has been a member of the Editorial Board of “Intersezioni. Rivista di storia delle idée”. Since 2005 member of the scientific advisory council of “Jahrbuch für Europäische Wissenschaftskultur”. F. Toccafondi is author of books and numerous articles published in books and in academic journals.
Fiorenza Toccafondi ist Professorin für Geschichte der Gegenwartsphilosophie an der Universität Parma (Italien). 1987 promovierte sie in Philosophie an der Universität von Florenz, es folgten postgraduale philosophische Studien an den Universitäten von Mailand und Florenz. Nach ihrer ursprünglichen Beschäftigung mit Neokantianismus und Phänomenologie wandte sie sich dem Werk Karl Bühlers zu, besonders seinen Arbeiten aus den Würzburger Jahren und aus der intensiven Wiener Schaffensperiode. Rivista di storia delle idée“, seit 2005 Mitglied des Wissenschaftlichen Beirats des "Jahrbuch für Europäische Wissenschaftskultur". F. Toccafondi ist Autorin mehrerer Bücher sowie zahlreicher Artikel in akademischen Zeitschriften und wissenschaftlichen Sammelwerken.
Emeritus Professor of Clinical Psychology and Director of the Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Psychosomatic Disorders at the University of Bologna. Member of the International Psychoanalytic Association. In 1975 he was Chair of General Psychology at the University of Padova and in 1977 he was the first Italian Chair of Psychosomatic Medicine at the University of Bologna.
