Can one person make a difference? Ask Ben Davis:
California’s Secretary of State approved a ballot initiative November 18 that seeks the closure of San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station and the Diablo Canyon plant.
The initiative was filed by Ben Davis Jr. [who] drafted this and an earlier petition that led to the closure of the Rancho Seco power plant in June 1989.
As drafted, the latest initiative parallels existing state law prohibiting the creation of new nuclear plants until the federal government finds a solution to dispose of radioactive nuclear waste and reprocess spent fuel rods. If enacted, the initiative would essentially shut down the state’s two remaining nuclear plants by stopping them from creating additional waste until a federal solution arrives. [...]
Davis has until April 16, 2012 to collect the 504,760 needed signatures to allow the initiative to go the voters in the fall presidential election. He expected to start the signature drive after the Thanksgiving weekend.
Post your petition links, ways to contact decision makers, ideas for future projects, action plans, news reports, inspirational words, tips for increasing signatures/exposure, questions… whatever you can think of concerning this issue. Here is a video to get things rolling:

PETITION NEEDS SIGNATURES:
"Gary Headrick, San Clemente
San Clemente Green has recently initiated a petition intended to influence the community engagement panel brought together by Southern California Edison regarding the decommissioning process going on at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. We are anxious to see how they respond."
"Please sign our petition (www.credomobilize.com/p/can-it), share it with others and plan to attend the workshop that will give everyone a more complete and realistic understanding about the nuclear waste issues from a community perspective and not just from the industry’s point of view."

Net Neutrality?
Verizon struck a mortal blow against Net Neutrality by persuading a federal judge to throw out the Federal Communication Commission’s Open Internet Order.
And now FCC Chair Tom Wheeler faces a choice — he can stand up for Net Neutrality or help Verizon kill it for good. The fate of the open Internet rests on this choice.
Outrageously, Wheeler recently proposed a new set of rules that will put the final nail in the coffin for Net Neutrality. This is wrong.
We only have until the May 15 FCC meeting to push back hard enough to get Wheeler to change course.

Stop Massive Expansion of U.S. Gas Exports
“Two bills now sitting before Congress have the fossil fuel industry drooling: Senate Bill 2083 and House Bill 6 propose to green-light exports of liquefied natural gas to 159 countries throughout the world.
“An expansion of natural gas exports will mean a fracking boom that leaves us to deal with the fallout — air and water contamination, earthquakes and climate disruption.”

On GMO Labeling: The problem is other people (public) trying to tell or force a corporation to do what they think the corporation should do whether through legal or illegal means. This is similar to your neighbor not minding their own business and interfering in yours. If you owned a profitable business would you want somebody telling you what to do? No, of course not! But a smart corporation or business would listen to a majority of the people and they did. CA and OR failed to pass labeling laws- regardless much money is spent- the majority ruled at the polls, case closed.
Don't get me wrong I am for labeling and erasing GMOs from the planet, but what bothers me is why is there a lot of groups getting donations and maybe pocketing some of the money in my opinion? to promote and keep fighting this fight and the people that can least afford to donate are doing to the cause.
Actually, a little grade school girl can give you that answer; she put out a petition to stop 2 Major Corporations from using a certain ingredient in their drink products and it didn't cost her hardly anything monetarily. Now why don't all the for-labeling people just write or petition all the Organic companies to put a label stating "Non-GMO" on their products and then they will buy only their products. Case closed.
Also it is interesting to ask some charities, religious organizations, and non-profits if they have another full time job or do they live on a portion of the donations…just a…

Angel the beautiful baby dolphin was ripped from her mother and is now floating sadly in a dark cement tank. How long she can survive this cruelty we don't know.
We have initiated legal proceedings to help Angel, but we can't continue the fight in court without your help. Please donate now so that together we can create a legal fund for Angel. 100% of your money will be used to fund legal campaigns for Angel and other dolphins.
The Taiji Whale Museum is illegally refusing entrance to dolphin welfare observers. They don't want the world's cameras to see the horrific conditions inside. If successful, the Action for Angel lawsuit will open the Museum to the sunlight of public scrutiny, and help to create pressure for Angel's conditions to be improved.
We can't ever reunite Angel with her mother. But if each person who reads this contributes, we can save her from the darkness and cruelty in which she is only surviving.
Will you help build the legal fund to save Angel? Please donate now.
