Week #7 – Refusing to Quit

by boiron on March 12th, 2014

Two members of Team Arnicare have suffered some physical setbacks over the last few weeks, but they’re not letting their misfortunes hold them back.

f8e85bab0474ca2a4faf0686644abc58So let’s be honest. I should have gone back to training sooner after my knee injury, and I should have trained more regularly. Now, five weeks from the race, I am faced with a little dilemma–race, knowing I’ve done very little training and will most likely fight through a good chunk of the race, or call it quits. Since I refuse to add failure to my vocabulary, I am left with finding ways to do my best over the next five weeks. (I already looked it up, and there are training plans out there for a four-week period.) And you know what’s the most frustrating thing at this point? The fact that I say the same thing every time I do a race, “I have not trained properly. I’m not prepared.” Anyways, what do you think? Can I do it?  – Nathalie

Vacation has put a damper on my training. As well-intentioned as I was lugging my running shoes to Florida with me and the serendipity of finding a jogging trail literally at my hotel doorstep, I did not find the time to train, and now I have missed a long run. And to continue the drama, I caught a cold on vacation and brought it back with me. Time for Coldcalm, fluids and rest, so I can get back to training.  – Nancy
