Giving Zakat al-Fitr after Ramadhaan
Qn8: If a father hasn’t distributed the Zakat-al-Fitr of Ramadan for his wife and children in the days before and during Eid, is it permissible for him to do so later after Eid or is it a sin?
Ans.8: It is obligatory for the head of the household to give out the Zakat-al-Fitr at the end of Ramadan before the day of Eid and this can be done even a couple of days before Eid. However if he delays it then this comes under two situations:
1) If the person is forgetful or sick, then he can give it after Eid and there is no problem with this.
2) If the person delays it on purpose, intentionally or out of laziness then it is obligatory upon him to still give it out but it is no longer called Zakat-al-Fitr but instead Sadaqah (charity) and this person is sinful. If we know someone like this, then we should give the sadaqah on their behalf whether they like it or not.

DAR EL ZAKAT AL’FITR DESPUÉS DEL ‘EID.
Pregunta 8: Si un padre no ha distribuido el Zakat al-Fitr-de Ramadán para su esposa e hijos en los días previos y durante el ‘Eid, ¿Está permitido que lo haga más tarde después del’ Eid, o es un pecado?
Respuesta 8: Es obligatorio para el padre de la casa dar el Zakat al-Fitr, al final del Ramadán antes del día de Eid, y esto se puede hacer incluso un par de días antes de Eid. Sin embargo, si se demora, entonces esto pasa en dos situaciones:
1) Si la persona se olvida o enferma, entonces él puede dar después de «Eid y no hay ningún problema con esto.
2) Si la persona lo retrasa a propósito, deliberadamente o por pereza, entonces es obligatorio sobre él darlo a conocer todavía, pero ya no se llama Zakat al-Fitr, darlo en lugar Sadaqah (caridad) y esta persona ha pecado. Si conocemos a alguien así, entonces deberíamos dar sadaqah en su nombre, les guste o no.
