Diane von Furstenberg to Take Home Superstar Award at Fashion Group International's Night of Stars

It's been a big year for Diane von Furstenberg.

Not only is the designer celebrating the 40th anniversary of her iconic wrap dress, but she's also slated to receive the Superstar Award at The Fashion Group International's Night of Stars this fall.

"Diane is truly a legend in her own time. Perhaps more than any other American designer, she has been profoundly influential in elevating the visibility and importance of the American fashion industry around the world," Fashion Group International president and CEO Margaret Hayes told WWD.

"But beyond Diane's exceptional talent is a sense of compassion and a generosity of spirit that drive the work of her family's foundation, which brings quality, hope, beauty and grace to the lives of so many."

Von Furstenberg follows in the footsteps of Marc Jacobs and Robert Duffy, who took home the coveted award last year, and Carolina Herrera, who won it in 2012.

Von Furstenberg won't be the only one taking home an award at the event though. Elie Tahari will be awarded a trophy for brand vision, L'Oréal's Carol Hamilton has been named the honoree in the beauty category, Fossil's Tom Kennedy will take home the prize for corporate leadership, Roger Schmid of Natura Brasil will be given an award for sustainability and William Sofield will take home a prize for interior design. Additionally, the Edith Head Costume Design award will be given to Caroline McCall for her work on "Downton Abbey," and Harper's Bazaar's Glenda Bailey will receive the Lord & Taylor Fashion Oracle prize.

This year's gala, which is themed "The Protagonists," is slated to take place at Cipriani 55 Wall Street in New York City on October 23. Simon Doonan will act as the master of ceremonies, and Ruben Toledo will create illustrations for the event's invitation and program.
