Tune In for Tips on Handling Holiday Stress & Overindulgence

by boiron on December 10th, 2012

It’s very easy to “overdo it” this time of year. So to help you survive overeating, stress and travel mishaps throughout the holiday season, tune in tomorrow to “Here’s To Your Health” on LA Talk Live! for tips from Boiron pharmacist Raphaele Cohen-Bacry and host and nutritionist Josh Lane.

“Most people tend to overeat or drink too much this time of the year,” says Raphaele. “Holidays disrupt many routines—as they should, since this is a special time and time of celebration. It’s healthy to enjoy time with friends and family. But try not to give into temptation too much. Every office party, special lunch, neighborhood or family gather offers an out-of-the-ordinary, decadent choice of foods. Set limits. Either try to plan at which event to indulge or only sample small portions at each event.” Raphaele recommends Boiron’s Acidil tablets and Nux vomica pellets when temptation gets the better of you.

The holidays can be stressful, which contributes to digestive issues, as well as impairing the immune system. To help you avoid turning into an irritable Scrooge, Raphaele recommends Sedalia and Gelsemium for general anxiety. These non-sedating solutions can help calm you down but allow you to remain focused so you can still accomplish what you need to do during stressful periods like the holidays. These medicines are also perfect for stress that comes on very quickly such as fear of flying or taking a final exam.

And lastly, Raphaele will remind listeners to keep Oscillococcinum on hand to combat crucial early flu-like symptoms. Don’t forget to pack it in your carry-on bag for holiday flights when you’re more susceptible to flu.

With more than 35 years of nutritional consulting experience, Josh is the owner of the Vitamin Center of Agoura Hills in California, and has published several health and nutrition articles. “Here’s To Your Health” airs every Tuesday at 12 p.m. PST on LA Talk Live!
