Participate in the #RealReform Twitter Party & Win a Boiron Gift Pack

by boiron on January 23rd, 2014

In early January, over 7,500 gallons of the chemical 4-methylcyclohexane methanol leaked into the Elk River in West Virginia and into the water supply from a tank farm close to the river. The chemical poisoned the water, preventing people from drinking or bathing in it, and impacting public health, wildlife and the environment.

1505348_10201758655822814_1542072828_nThis water crisis, along with several other events over the last ten years, continues to demonstrate the lack of protections in the U.S. involving chemicals. According to the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976, chemicals don’t have to be studied before they are put into production. Over 60,000 chemicals were approved in 1976, and only 20 were tested for safety. Since then, only five of these substances have been restricted.

Join the #RealReform of Chemicals Twitter Party tonight from 9-10:30 ET to discuss ways to educate the public about this crisis and how to prevent it in the future. Use the hashtag #RealReform to participate. One of several sponsors of the Twitter party, Boiron is giving away cough, cold and flu value packs to three lucky participants.
