Getting Ready for the Holiday Weekend – Are You Prepared?

by boiron on May 28th, 2010

The Memorial Day holiday weekend means food. Lots and lots of food. More hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salads, taco dips and yummy desserts than you would consume all summer are pushed into three days of fun in the sun. And while the employees here at Boiron never hesitate to dig in to a delicious spread (and yes, we are having our company picnic today!), it’s inevitable that there will be some unhappy tummies come Tuesday morning, especially if you are used to eating a more healthy diet. Thankfully for you and your tummy, Boiron has several single medicines to ease those upset stomachs. The obvious choice might be Nux vomica, which relieves heartburn or drowsiness due to excessive eating or drinking, especially spicy foods or alcohol. But what about the other singles? Our Pharmacist Christophe Merville suggests Antimonium crudum to help treat indigestion with nausea, especially after eating cured meats or junk foods or experiencing acid reflux or belching. Christophe says Pulsatilla may also provide relief when ingesting too much fat like ice cream or greasy foods, and Calcarea carbonica can help offset the effects of too much dairy or pasta. And finally, Bryonia alba, he says, is good to take after consuming too much meat or when experiencing the feeling of always being thirsty. Now don’t you feel better about going back for seconds of that spicy cheese and chilli dip knowing these friends of the digestive system can help? Your stomach will thank you, and so will your Tuesday morning.
