Arnicare Grows in Popularity with Pickleball Players

by boiron on November 13th, 2013

S-R 05One of the fastest growing sports in the nation, pickleball is played by all ages, especially older Americans, who enjoy the ability to stay active. Often referred to as “oversized ping pong,” pickleball is played on a badminton court with a 34-inch net. Participants use a perforated plastic baseball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. Named after Pickles, the family cocker spaniel of Joel Pritchard, congressman from Washington state and one of the sport’s co-inventors, pickleball started in the mid-1960s. The first known pickleball tournament in the world was played in the spring of 1976 in Tukwila, Wash., and by 1990, the sport was being played in all 50 states. This week, the sport will hold its fifth National Pickleball Tournament in Buckeye, Ariz. at the Sun City Festival, and players will receive Arnicare Gel and coupons in their gift bags to help relieve those sore, stiff muscles post-match.
