“Au Naturel” Warm Weather First Aid

by boiron on July 12th, 2010

A summer first aid kit is an easy way to keep all of your family’s medical essentials in one place and readily available. Keep one in your house, one in the car, and smaller, more compact ones in your purse and beach bag. Here’s our own list of first aid kit must-haves:

– Assorted sizes of bandages
Antibiotic ointment
– Reusable cold & heat packs
– Antiseptic spray or wipes
– Gauze
– Tweezers, scissors
– Cotton balls, cotton swabs
– Cloth tape
– Thermometer
– Sunscreen
– Insect repellent
– Hand sanitizer

Our Pharmacist Christophe Merville recommends adding a few Boiron single medicines to make your first aid kit even better. Each of the following convenient blue tubes relieves one or two summertime ailments:

Apis mellifica – Relieves pain from first degree burns, insect stings and hives.
Belladonna – Relieves pain caused by sun burn.
Arnica montana – Relieves widespread pain caused by trauma, bruising or overexertion.
Arsenicum album – Relieves traveler’s diarrhea.
Histaminum – Relieves allergy symptoms.
Ledum palustre – Relieves swelling and itching caused by mosquito bites.
Nux vomica – Relieves heartburn or drowsiness due to overindulgence.

What other single medicines do you keep in your own first aid kit? Let us know if we missed any of the essentials!
