Rodale Institute Awards Event Honors Organic Pioneers

by boiron on September 13th, 2013

Boiron is proud to support the Rodale Institute Organic Pioneer Awards, being held tonight at the Rodale Institute in Kutztown, Pa. This year’s ceremony will honor the following three individuals who have led the way in growing the organic industry:

OPAlogo- Bob Quinn – Quinn is a fourth-generation farmer and tireless scientist who popularized the ancient khorasan wheat with his company, Kamut International. As one of the first 100 percent certified organic farms in Montana, he made the connection between healthy whole grains and artisan bread early on, marketing his wheat directly to California bakeries.

Alice Waters – Waters is considered the mother of the farm-to-table movement in the United States. She opened Chez Panisse in Berkeley, Calif. in 1971, sourcing product from local farmers. More than forty years later, Chez Panisse continues to create fresh, seasonal, local and wickedly delicious food in collaboration with organic and sustainable producers.

- Dr. David Pimentel – Professor Emeritus, Cornell University

Boiron is part of the Institute’s “Your 2 Cents” program, which supports student scholarships for sustainable agriculture degrees, military veterans establishing careers in organic farming and new organic farmers, and establishes research grants for farmers in the “Your 2 Cents” network. For every case sold of its popular Arnicare line, Boiron contributes to the program. Those who want to support the future of organic farming through a purchase of an Arnicare product can find store locations and a $1 coupon at Arnicare.com, and click here for more information on the “Your 2 Cents” program.

About the Rodale Institute: The Rodale Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to pioneering organic farming through research and outreach. For over 60 years, the Institute has been committed to researching the best practices for organic farming and sharing findings with farmers and scientists around the world, advocating for policies that support farmers, and educating consumers about how going organic is the healthiest option for people and the planet. The Institute’s Farming Systems Trial® is the longest-running side-by-side U.S. study comparing conventional chemical agriculture with organic methods. The study has shown that organic yields match conventional and outperform them in years of drought and environmental distress. From field days to workshops to exclusive online tools for farmers and original articles, Rodale Institute has been sharing their findings with farmers, scientists, policy-makers, gardeners and consumers around the world.
