Shahab Hosseini was born on 3 February 1974. He was intending to emigrate to Canada, but remained in Iran, being a TV and radio host, and appearing in TV series such as ‘After Rain’. His career took off with his performance in Tahmineh Milani's ‘The Fifth Reaction’ (2003). His awards include a Crystal Simorgh (for ‘Superstar’, 2009) and the Diploma of Honor (for ‘A Separation’, 2011) at the Fajr International Film Festivals, a Silver Bear Award (for ‘A Separation’, 2011) at the Berlin International Film Festival, and Best Actor in a Lead Role (for ‘About Elly’, 2009) from Iran's House of Cinema.
