Why didn’t you review [insert name here]’s latest disc?

Literally hundreds of new albums are released each week and arrive at Billboard's offices, all seeking print and online reviews and/or mentions. It is physically impossible to cover all of them within the magazine or online. Billboard's experts choose various titles to review based on retail and airplay potential, as well as artistic merit.

Can you tell me how high an artist charted?

Specific questions about chart feats should be addressed to our "Chart Beat" editors. And specific questions can be directed to our "Ask Billboard" experts.

How does an artist get their music on the Billboard charts?

Billboard publishes a host of charts that are individually or collectively based on key fan interactions with music, including album sales and downloads, track downloads, radio airplay and touring as well as streaming and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, Vevo, Youtube, Spotify and other popular online destinations for music. These measurements are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen BDS, Nielsen SoundScan and Next Big Sound. In order for artists and title to chart in Billboard, they must be among the higher ranked performers among the specific metric used to compile the chart. Specific methodologies can be found on each chart page on billboard.com and on the Chart Legend reference page on billboard.biz.

You made a mistake/I know more than you/you left something out of your article.

Your charts pages are not up-to-date! (Or: 1-10 are updated but not 11-20)

We appreciate your interest in the Billboard charts. We update our charts each week, beginning in the early morning, with the goal of having the update complete before 10:00am ET. The chart update team carefully reviews the chart content and functionality to ensure all information is correct and that the chart pages are functioning correctly. If you check the charts early in the morning, you may catch the pages mid-update; please wait a few minutes and try again. If it's later in the day and you don't see the new chart, or only see a partially new chart, please clear your browser cache and try again.
