British Airways to start Bilbao flights

British Airways is to begin flights from Heathrow to Bilbao from March 2015.

The double-daily service to the Basque city will start on March 29 when BA’s sister airline Vueling will also switch its existing four times per week Heathrow-Bilbao services to Gatwick.

BA’s Bilbao service, which will use Heathrow’s Terminal 3, will feature both Club World and economy cabins onboard Airbus A319s and A320s.

Stephen Humphreys, BA’s head of UK and Ireland sales and marketing, said: “Bilbao is a brilliant business city with a fantastic cultural heritage offering a superb gateway to northern Spain for our customers.

“We’re extremely happy to be flying to Bilbao and offering our customers another route to Spain, which now becomes our 12th destination to this culturally diverse country.”

Both BA and Vueling are part of International Airlines Group, which also includes Spain’s legacy carrier Iberia.
