GUILTY: San Antonio Man Convicted in Child Prostitution Case

HOUSTON, Texas—A San Antonio man was convicted on July 23 for his role in a prostitution ring that involved at least two under-aged girls. The man is the second person to be convicted in this scheme which resulted in federal charges being filed against three men and one woman.

Malcolm Deandre Copeland, aged 22, was convicted by a federal jury for his role in prostituting two minor females last year according to a press released obtained by Breitbart Texas from Texas Attorney General (AG) Greg Abbott. The Texas Attorney General’s Office participated in the prosecution of this series of crimes.

In August and September of 2013, Copeland placed provocative photographs of two minor females in an online publication, Backpage.com, offering their services as an escort (prostitute). Copeland was also involved in transporting the females to the various cities where he prostituted the women.

In a FBI criminal complaint obtained by Breitbart Texas and attached below, one of the minor females who was identified only as "TJ," told the investigating FBI agent that she had been sexually assaulted allegedly by one of the conspirators, Marcus Deshawn Wright, aged 38, from San Antonio, who also allegedly took videos and pictures of himself having sex with another under-aged female.

TJ stated that she was transported to motels and residential homes by Copeland. She was forced to engage in a variety of sex acts for money and was then allegedly forced to turn that money over to Wright who allegedly split the money with Copeland and co-defendant Amber Doak, aged 20, also from San Antonio.

Wright, and the other remaining co-defendant, Ramond Valas, aged 41, from New Hampshire, await jury selection. Their trials are scheduled for August 18 and November 17 respectively. Wright is charged with two counts of sex trafficking of minors and one count of production of child pornography. Valas is accused of one county of sex trafficking a minor.

Amber Doak plead guilty in March to one count of sex trafficking a minor and is currently awaiting sentencing according to the AG’s press release. She is scheduled to be sentenced on September 12 and could receive a penalty of ten years to life in federal prison.

Copeland is scheduled for sentencing on December 4 and also faces a ten years to life sentence in federal prison.
