What is your company about?

We envisioned to be the leading female lifestyle portal in Asia. Our first product is wedding.com.my. Wedding.com.my aggregates wedding related contents and bridge between wedding vendors and couples getting married. Our visual search engine allows users to search ideas, discover inspirations & shop online. We target female audiences who are internet savvy and spend online. 80% of our member base are Malaysian female age 18-40. Our goal is to follow our users as early as wedding stage, and continue to guide them through next milestones of their life – motherhood & family.

What is the greatest thing about your company?

Launched since September 2013, wedding.com.my is ranked #1 wedding site in Malaysia. To-date, we have over 100,000 members and fan base. We are also lucky to be featured in media such as Bernama, Malaysian Times, Tech in Asia, Startup Hub etc.

The greatest thing is that I get to see the company grow each day. Almost every month there are new achievements being made, which makes this venture exciting & motivates the whole team. Next month, we are hitting another milestone with the launch of our second product – motherhood.com.my.

How did you come up with the name for your company?

Enlinea literally means “online” in Spanish. As the name suggest, we envision to be Asia leading online media company for female audiences.

How did you get funded initially?

Self-funded and seed money.

What time do you usually start work each day?

Officially 8 hours a day (9am – 6pm), but usually we get so focused into it and forget to go home!

When is the last time you went on vacation in 3 years and where did you go?

I believe in “work hard, play hard”. Over the past 3 years, I have been to parts of US, Europe & Asia. The best got to be Alaska!

What is the very first thing you do at work every day?

When i wake up, I think through 3 things that I want to get done today; and set the right mind to achieve it!

Do you work from home, office or a cafe?

I normally work from office; or in cafe if in between meetings.

Where do you see your company in 5 Years?

We hope to be the #1 wedding, motherhood and family website in 6 countries.

How many people did you start the company with and how many people work for you now?

The idea was conceived in June 2013, and we bootstrap with just 4 people. Today, 15 months down the road, we are a 14 people team.

What’s the top 5 Struggles you face as an Entrepreneur?

Being an entrepreneur, you have to be prepared to:

1. Get your hands dirty – you don’t have the luxury of a team of army to assist you. So be prepared to get things done on your own.

2. Be on top of all things – you must be a all rounder, which is very different from being an employee where you just focus on one specific thing.

3. Get things done faster, cheaper & better – remember you no longer work for corporate, learn to get things done the lean startup way.

4. Recruiting talent to join you – this is by far second toughest. The toughest is #5.

5. Convincing talent not to leave you!

How many failed startups were you involved in before this?

This is my second attempt in my start-up journey. My first was in F&B which failed spectacularly. It lasted just 12 months. Having said that, that experience goes a long way in shaping who I am today.

Are you a coffee person? What brand do your drink?

Not a coffee-holic, but I do enjoy a cup of hot choc occasionally.

At which point will you consider yourself a successful entrepreneur?

When I achieve the goal I set before the start-up kick-starts. And I am always thankful that I have wonderful co-founders and awesome team that always stick together to make things happen!

What inspires you? Or Who?

Happy customers! Seeing our product actually helps couple to plan their dream wedding. Receiving testimonials from awesome members and merchants simply inspires us continue to do more!

Do you have an inspiring quote which you like to share?

“Think big, and all problems become small”

What advice do you have for fellow entrepreneurs getting started?

Toughen up yourself… entrepreneurship journey is not a bed of roses. While you always hear about other’s success stories, what you don’t usually see are the sweat & failure that they have gone through.
