Todd Maisel is an award-winning New York Daily News staff photographer since 1999 and has been a pro photographer, with specialty in spot news for more than 28 years. He currently serves as a National Director of the National Press Photographers Association, chairman of Region 2 NPPA, board member of its national advocacy committee and the Northern Short Course. Notably, he was the co-chair of Witness to Tragedy and Recovery 9-11 Memorial Program at Pace University. He was honored with NPPA the Humanitarian Award for saving the life of a firefighter found in the debris after the collapse of one of the two towers, assisting in the rescue of injured photographer David Handschuh, and extensive coverage of the event. In 1998, he was named Photographer of the Year by the New York Press Photographers Association, the first freelancer to ever obtain that distinction. He's won numerous awards since. Maisel has a Journalism degree from NYU, continuing ed at School of Visual Arts, and Parsons School of Art.
