Barrage's Horikoshi starts My Hero Academia; Hunter x Hunter goes on 1-week break

This year's 31st issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that the magazine will launch four new manga series in the following three issues. It is also announcing that Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter X Hunter manga will go on hiatus in the 32nd issue, but it will return in the 33rd issue on July 14. "A special project" will appear in the 32nd issue.

Kōhei Horikoshi will start the Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia, pictured center right) series with a 54-page chapter in the 32nd issue on July 7. The story is set in the modern day, except people with special powers have become commonplace throughout the world. A boy named Izuku Midoriya has no powers, but he still dreams. Horikoshi serialized the Barrage manga in the magazine in 2012, and Viz Media published Barrage in North America.

Shūhei Miyazaki will also launch the three-chapter "chemical reaction gag" manga Soreike! Yūgō-kun (top center) with a 13-page chapter on June 30. The story centers around Yūgō (literally in Japanese, "fusion"), a youth who is three steps ahead of the times. Things happen when he combines one substance with another.

Ryō Ishiyama will then start the Mitsukubi Condor manga (pictured bottom right) in the 33rd issue on July 14. Finally, Yūsaku Shibata will launch the Yoakemono manga (bottom center) in the 34th issue on July 19.

The relatively new manga Soul Catchers will move from the main Weekly Shonen Jump magazine to Jump Next!! magazine on August 18. The manga's latest compiled book volume, #6, will ship in August. The story also has a novelization project in the works with Shueisha's J-Books imprint.
