Kiev - Vandals on the night of September 23 to 24 desecrated the memorial Menorah in Babi Yar in Kiev. This was stated by the State Commissioner for Ethnic Policy Gennady Druzenko, related the press service of the Cabinet.

The act of vandalism was committed on the eve of Rosh Hashanah - the Jewish New Year and the anniversary of the mass shootings of Jews at Babi Yar, noted Korrespondent. During these days, thousands of Jews come to Ukraine to celebrate Rosh Hashanah - the 5775 New Year on the Jewish calendar. The celebration will take place from Wednesday evening, September 24, to Friday evening, September 26.

“The State Commissioner on Ethnic Policy considers this shameful abuse of the memory of the victims of Nazism as a deliberate provocation, which aims to strengthen anti-Semitic and xenophobic attitudes in Ukrainian society”, it was stated.
