JUNIOR (2001-2002): Gained his first start of the season against Houston...tallied 13 points, 3 defensive rebounds, 1 assist, 1 turnover, and 1 steal in the starting role...played a total of 28 minutes in the game...against UL-L he hit for double figures again - 14 points...5-9 from the field, 4-6 from the FT line, grabbed 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 turnovers, 2 steals, and 4 personal fouls in his 26 minutes of playing time...against Minnesota, Pawel had his first double-double as he tallied 10 points and 11 rebounds during this 28 minutes of floor time...in the Wyoming game, Pawel's free throw shooting (5-8) was important down the stretch for the Red Raiders. He was 1-6 from the floor and garnered 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 turnover, and 1 steal in addition to drawing a difficult defensive assignment against Josh Davis. Davis scored 6 points before fouling out in the second half...returned to form in the Missouri game as he totaled 21 points - his season high through his 6-13 shooting from the field and 9-11 from the free throw line as he pulled down 6 rebounds, dished out 6 assists, and had 2 turnovers...averaged 6.3 ppg for the season...20.3 minutes per game in 18 starts...sat out 7 games at the beginning of the season...scored double figures 7 times during the season.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Pawel, playing for Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kansas, was All-Conference and All-Region in his sophomore year...a native of Poland, he has spent much of his life in France...both parents played professional basketball in Europe...chose Texas Tech over Illinois, Kansas State, Tennessee, Connecticut, and South Carolina...a versatile player who can score in the paint or will drop the shots from the perimeter...Pawel had a stretch of seven conference games in which he averaged a double-double...during the conference playoffs, he averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds per game...Junior College coach was Brian Hoberecht.

PERSONAL: Pawel was born in Lodz, Poland on March 24, 1979...identifies his parents as the most influential people in his life and his best friends...three words which describe himself are hard-working, determined, and outgoing...Pawel's mother is one of the Top Ten Female basketball players in Polish basketball history...enjoys reading biographies, singing and playing the guitar, and listening to rock and blues...his advice to others, "Work very hard because dreams can come true. Earn your success. Practice makes dreams come true."
