We are working on a hand cranked mini shredder and grinder (FlakerBot) since that is the only option when working locally with the waste picker coops in Pune, India – given that there is no electric power at the sorting sheds. We have made some good progress and an update is available in the latest blog posted here.
Would be great to hear from you on any new technologies that may be available out there to address this problem.

I coordinate programs at a Makerspace high school in California in association with Dale Dougherty and others from Make Magazine.

Often, the missing link for kids engaged in 3D printing and laser cutting, etc., is the human element, or how their projects can make a lasting difference.

We would love to find ways to connect our students to the good works being done by those in the field who find meaningful applications for digital fabrication.
