Dillard’s at Meadows mall converted to clearance center

The Dillard’s department store inside Meadows mall has converted to a clearance center, according to Dillard’s spokesperson Julie Bull.

“It’s very much open,” Bull said. The first floor of the 180,000 square-foot central valley location, 4200 Meadows Lane, is closed and the second floor has been converted to a discount-only retail space.

“We’re still Dillard’s merchandise,” store manager Jose Nicholas said. “It’s just the other stores in the region send us their clearance merchandise.”

Bull says Dillard’s is continually evaluating their market and that the Meadows mall location, which originally opened in the fall of 1984, is now “better served as a clearance center.”

Some of the store’s employees were transferred to other stores in the area, and many are working out of the newest Las Vegas Dillard’s in Downtown Summerlin.

Nicholas says the conversion created about 30 jobs. Bull said she thinks that increase is actually due to the opening of the store in Downtown Summerlin.

Out of 298 Dillard’s department stores, there are approximately 20 clearance centers, Bull said.

Nicholas could not comment on what effect the conversion would have on the store’s holiday sales.

Plans for first floor of the store are not known at this time. Meadow’s mall leasing representatives did not respond to requests for comment.
