Subhashini Chandran is one of India's few women leaders credited with building a large agribusiness. Her expertise is in turning around distressed businesses. As Chief Executive Officer of the Woodbriar Group and Founder of Briar Bungalows, she grew a small tea business into one of India's largest privately owned tea plantation and ecotourism businesses, supporting more than 30,000 employees and their dependents. Chandran recently founded Blue Green Ventures (BGV) to promote low impact development in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. BGV informs policy on responsible tourism and green infrastructure and has invested in these sectors on the islands. Chandran serves as Sub-Editor at Large at The Echo of India, the Andamans' largest circulating English daily, and is visiting faculty at XLRI Business School, Jamshedpur. She is a Member of the Bar Council of India and Entrepreneurs Organization. In 2010, Yale University awarded her the Yale World Fellowship for Emerging Leaders. Chandran has a BSc (Honours) in International Relations from LSE and an LLB (Honours) from City University, UK.
