Job Description

The position performs the skilled and technical duties involved in the examination, comparison, and identification of latent prints.

Typical Duties

• Analyzing latent fingerprints, palm prints, and other fragmentary impressions
• Examining and comparing evidence from crime scenes to determine origin
• Examining latent prints and searching information in AFIS
• Photographing and enhancing latent prints
• Reviewing, analyzing, and updating fingerprint data
• Creating and maintaining latent evidence case files
• Examining latent prints and searching information in FBI IAFIS
• Assisting in the coordination of criminal investigations and resulting prosecution
• Testifying as an expert witness in court proceedings
• Performing routine maintenance repairs on identification equipment
• Writing detailed narrative reports
• Performing specialized administrative duties

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma and six (6) years experience comparing latent fingerprint impressions

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree
• IAI certification
