Arauco’s Constitución mill to restart Thursday in Chile
SAO PAULO, May 19, 2010 (RISI) - Arauco will begin ramping up its 360,000 tonnes/yr unbleached kraft (UBK) Constitución mill in Chile's Maule region Thursday. The plant was swamped by a tsunami that followed the devastating Feb. 27 earthquake that damaged several wood, pulp and paper mills and brought the country's pulp production industry to a standstill.
According to Arauco 28% of the district's labor force is tied to its Constitución pulp mill, and the facility is "the key industrial installation for the Constitución economy's recovery."
