Synopsis:
In his quest for a man called “the Engineer”, a detective opens a mysterious box found on the crime scene and get tangled in a nightmarish world.
Horror-on-Screen Review (by Raoul):
From this movie on, the Hellraiser series takes a new turn and dramatically loses its interest, mainly because the movies are not really horror movies anymore, but thrillers. The story in the fifth sequel is not bad, but the movie is unbelievably slow and gets really boring. The few nightmarish hallucinations are good, but there is not enough of them and you sometimes found yourselves watching a detective movie instead. Luckily, the design of the cenobites and a few good scenes here and there compensates for this, making this movie watchable, but only for fans of the series.
