General Location

Dunfermline Town Station is situated on the south side of the town centre with its main entrance off St Margaret's Drive.

Waiting Room

The ticket office is situated within the heated waiting room on Platform 2 and is only open during the above times.  The ticket office is fitted with an induction loop for deaf and hard of hearing people. Electronic information screens provide train information.

A kiosk is located within the Platform 2 waiting room selling newspapers and refreshments. Kiosk opening hours: -

  • Monday to Friday     0630 – 1400
  • Saturday        1000 – 1400
  • Sunday            Closed

There is a heated waiting room on Platform 1, which is only open during ticket office hours. There is a further waiting room on this platform which is open at all times.

Parking

The main station car park is free, with space for 76 cars and is accessed via the main entrance off St Margaret's Drive, adjacent to the Kirkcaldy-bound platform (Platform 2).  There is also a large, free car park with space for 190 cars on 2 levels, off Woodmill Street which is adjacent to the Edinburgh-bound platform (Platform 1).  

There are 7 designated spaces for Blue European Parking Badge Holders situated in the Woodmill Street Car Park and 4 in the St Margaret's Drive Car Park.

Drop-off / Pick-up points

Passengers can be dropped off or picked up immediately adjacent to the main station building, off St Margaret's Drive and within both car parks.

Buses / Bus Stops

The bus stop adjacent to the station, on St Margaret's Drive, is up 36 steps from the car park. The bus stop opposite the station, on St Margaret's Drive, is 22 metres away from the station building entrance, through a subway at the end of the car park, up 37 steps and then a further 7 metres away. Both bus stops have shelter facilities and timetable information.

The bus stop adjacent to the Woodmill Street Car Park is accessed via a footpath from the car park but there is no dropped kerb. The bus stop opposite the Woodmill Street Car Park is accessed via the same footpath from the car park  (10 metres) and then directly across the  pedestrian crossing. Both bus stops have shelter facilities and timetable information. PlusBus tickets are available for this station.

Taxi Ranks

A taxi company operates from the station forecourt, off St Margaret's Drive.  The taxi office is in the main station building.

Telephones

A public telephone is located outside the main station building, off St Margaret's Drive, and is a coins only phone.

Platforms

The Kirkcaldy-bound platform (Platform 2) is accessible from the main station car park, off St Margaret's Drive, via a level access or via the ticket office during staffing hours. Platform width = 5.8m minimum.

The Edinburgh-bound platform (Platform 1) can be reached via a ramp (3° incline) directly from the Woodmill Street Car Park (upper level) or via a ramped subway (7° incline) from the Woodmill Street Car Park (lower level). Platform width = 3.7m minimum.

Crossing between platforms is via the ramped subway (7° inclines).  

Both platforms have tactile edges, are lit, have sheltered seating, timetable information, electronic screens and CCTV.

Platform 1.

All trains serving this station carry on-board ramps to assist with boarding/alighting.

Toilets

The Ladies and Gents are free of charge and are situated within the waiting room on Platform 2.  You must have a valid ticket to access the toilets and present this to the ticket office staff (they will then open the toilets).  The Disabled and Baby Changing facilities are free of charge and are situated on Platform 2. These also require a valid ticket for access and are open only during ticket office hours.

Rail Enquiries

Electronic information screens are available in the waiting room on Platform 2, on both platforms and in Woodmill Street Car Park. Timetable information is available on both platforms, at the entrance to the building, in the waiting room and by using the Help Points.

Cycle Facilities

There are 20 lockers located in the main car park (St Margaret's Drive) opposite the station building. Users must provide their own padlock.

CCTV

There are CCTV cameras throughout the station building, on both platforms and in both car parks.
