The Interview Actress Diana Bang Is Ready for Anything

Photograph by David Roemer.

AGE: 33.

PROVENANCE: Vancouver, British Columbia.

LAUGH TRACK: The up-and-coming actress had an accidental introduction to comedy. “I was taking drama classes in high school, and I would do these really serious monologues (or at least I thought they were). Then everyone would be laughing at me, and I would be like, ‘What the hell? You’re supposed to be crying.’ I think I’m kind of clownish, so it was sort of a natural progression.”

FUNNY BUSINESS: Bang, who has appeared in several TV movies (Sorority Wars, Miracle in Manhattan), as well as A&E’s cult-favorite series, Bates Motel, has honed her acting chops in a sketch-comedy group, Assaulted Fish, for the past decade. “It’s really cool to be telling my stories and working with a bunch of really funny, really cool Vancouverites.”

THE BIG BANG: This Christmas, Bang will make her big-screen debut in The Interview, alongside Hollywood’s favorite funnymen Seth Rogen and James Franco. “I remember thinking when I was watching [This Is the End], ‘Oh, it would be cool to do something like this.’ Little did I know, six months later I would be working with them.”

ALONG FOR THE RIDE: After completing her first big film, the actress, who has numerous projects in the pipeline, is ready for whatever comes next. “I will go wherever the work takes me, so hopefully that’s somewhere cool.”
