I composed the following:

“Me, 66 years of age, single.

“My three year monthly income savings bond has just reached its maturity and I am undoubtedly now going to find myself financially struggling and more than likely resorting to claiming state benefits.

“Is this what our Conservative government envisaged? With years of scandalous interest rates on savings resulting in savers (whom the Government claims should be rewarded for saving towards their retirement) blowing their funds and security, I now, after years of extreme prudent spending, find myself near on going to beg for benefit state handouts upon which I might live. And I have worked all my life.

“My monthly income amounts to £555.04 to date and includes the current state pension and a very small income from previous employment. With my three year bond I was able to just about  keep my head above water by, as stated, very prudent expenditure. My monthly outgoings are thus: rent £420; council Tax £72; water£16; car insurance £16; BT £30; TV £12, totalling £566.00. All figures to the nearest pound and not including food, clothing, fuel bills, car tax, etc.

“There are many of us Mr Cameron who would love to feast upon steak for our supper – (and I refer to a comment made in the Mail on Sunday, January 18. It would appear when asked by his wife what he would like for his supper, he replied ‘steak, darling, now we have got the economy back on track’).

“What might you suggest I should do having found myself in this not self-inflicted dilemma? Struggle and ‘live’ on or go for euthanasia? I am far from being a ‘happy bunny.’’

I sent this message as directed, and received the following reply: ‘Please send a valid message’!

I hope this is of interest to all the non-Conservative  supporters in light of the forthcoming general election.
